Eva½ me suta½ eka½ samaya½ bhagav± s±vatthiya½ viharati jetavane an±thapiº¹ikassa ±r±me. Tatra kho bhagav± bhikkh³ ±mantesi “bhikkhavo”ti. “Bhadante”ti te bhikkh³ bhagavato paccassosu½. Bhagav± etadavoca: I have heard thus.
At one time the Sublime One was living at S±vatthi,
in Jeta's grove of An±thapindika. The Sublime One addressed
the monks: “Monks!” “Yes, Venerable Sir.” those
monks replied. And the Sublime One said thus: “If the Tath±gatas appear or if the Tath±gatas do not appear, this position and principle of the Dhamma stands, this Certainty of Dhamma - ‘All processes are impermanent’. The Tath±gata completely awakened to and realized that. Being completely awakened and realized to this, he expounds it, teaches it, makes it known and establishes it. He lays it out, presents its particulars and makes it clear - ‘All processes are impermanent’. Upp±d± v±, bhikkhave, tath±gat±na½ anupp±d± v± tath±gat±na½ µhit±va s± dh±tu dhammaµµhitat± dhammaniy±mat±. Sabbe saªkh±r± dukkh±. Ta½ tath±gato abhisambujjhati abhisameti. Abhisambujjhitv± abhisametv± ±cikkhati deseti paññ±peti paµµhapeti vivarati vibhajati utt±n²karoti ‘sabbe saªkh±r± dukkh±’ti. “If the Tath±gatas appear or if the Tath±gatas do not appear, this position and principle of the Dhamma stands, this Certainty of Dhamma - ‘All processes are afflicted’. The Tath±gata completely awakened to and realized that. Being completely awakened and realized to this, he expounds it, teaches it, makes it known and establishes it. He lays it out, presents its particulars and makes it clear - ‘All processes are afflicted’. Upp±d± v±, bhikkhave, tath±gat±na½ anupp±d± v± tath±gat±na½ µhit±va s± dh±tu dhammaµµhitat± dhammaniy±mat±. Sabbe dhamm± anatt±. Ta½ tath±gato abhisambujjhati abhisameti. Catuttha½. “If the Tath±gatas appear or if the Tath±gatas do not appear, this position and principle of the Dhamma stands, this Certainty of Dhamma - ‘All phenomena are not ‘Self’’. The Tath±gata completely awakened to and realized that. Being completely awakened and realized to this, he expounds it, teaches it, makes it known and establishes it. He lays it out, presents its particulars and makes it clear - ‘All phenomena are not ‘Self’’. Idamavoca bhagav±. Attaman± te bhikkh³ bhagavato bh±sita½ abhinandunti. This was said
by the Sublime One. Uplifted in mind, the monks took pleasure in
